چکیده

Methods: We prospectively recruited asymptomatic patients with no history or symptoms of hip pathology who underwent abdomen-pelvis computed tomography (CT) for a nonorthopaedic indication. The acetabular and femoral parameters related to FAI were measured. Results: We studied 101 subjects (202 hips) with a mean age of 36.8 ± 14.4 years. The mean center-edge angle was 39.4 ± 7.2 . The crossover sign was present in 34 cases (33.7%). The mean alpha angle was 49.7 ± 8.3 . Depending on the cut points chosen for FAI-related parameters, between 39.6% and 69.3% of an asymptomatic Chilean population were found to have morphological features related to FAI.

Towards Reliable Automatic Characterization of Neonatal Hip Dysplasia from 3D Ultrasound Images

Ultrasound (US) imaging is recommended for early detection of developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH), which includes a spectrum of hip joint abnormalities in infants. However, the currently standard 2-dimensional (2D) US-based approach to measuring the dysplasia metric (DM), namely the α angle, suffers from high within-hip variability with standard deviations typically ranging between 3◦ − 7◦...

0507 - Topographical, Electrochemical, and Tribological Characterization of Nitrogen Diffusion Hardened Titanium Alloy

Introduction: Fretting mediated mixed-metal corrosion at the taper-socket interface in modular hip prostheses is an issue of continuing concern. Fretting can be reduced by decreasing micromotion or by improving the tribological properties of the material components at this interface. Ion-implantation and diffusion hardening processes are hypothesized to increase the resistance of the titanium a...

Wear Debris Characterization and Corresponding Biological Response: Artificial Hip and Knee Joints

Wear debris, of deferent sizes, shapes and quantities, generated in artificial hip and knees is largely confined to the bone and joint interface. This debris interacts with periprosthetic tissue and may cause aseptic loosening. The purpose of this review is to summarize and collate findings of the recent demonstrations on debris characterization and their biological response that influences the...

Characterization and Phase Transformation of Spherical YSZ Powders Fabricated Via air Plasma Spray Method

Air plasma spray (APS) process is used to produce high density and flowability spherical powders. Phase transformation that occurred in this process isn’t well known. In this paper, the YSZ powders have been sprayed in water to investigate the morphology changes and phase transformations via air plasma spray (APS) method. Phase analysis of powders was examined by XRD and the crystallite size an...
